The ancient downlands of Wiltshire and Hampshire create the world renowned chalk streams of the Wylye, Test and Itchen – shallow, clear and white. Great father Thames flows through Oxfordshire to the north with much literary association. The Surrey and Sussex hills are surprisingly rich in secret wooded pools and meres and even London has some wild-swimming gems.
