Beautiful views and peaceful swim wthin Poole Harbour, a number of dipping areas to choose from. Large south-facing car park (now have to pay) found down hidden laneway to Lake Pier. Sometimes an ice cream/burger van is present.
Area is home to canoe club – who set off around the islands of the harbour. Also within a nature reserve area with fishing lake.
You’ll find a narrow shingle beach with muddy-ish sea bed. (water shoes recommended to avoid stubbing toes on stones).
Tide takes affect twice daily. Shallow water out to edge of pier where the deep harbour channel suddenly falls away.
Dipping opportunities to east and west of pier to get away from the (not too many) crowds – especially to the western side, towards Rockley – where it is good for discrete skinny dipping.
Don’t tell everybody – it’s a gem – let’s keep it that way.
