AA 4-STAR BOWNESS GUEST HOUSE – 5-MINUTE WALK TO LAKE WINDERMERE

Located just 5 minutes’ walk to the shores of Windermere, Blenheim Lodge is not only close by the Lake but offers en-suite bedrooms OVERLOOKING Lake Windermere. Our guest house, rated AA 4 STARS, is quietly situated atop a fell, against a backdrop of open fields, woodlands, and pretty footpaths leading to various viewpoints with magnificent views. The Dales Way, a long distance foot path, practically finishes in our back yard and is a literal half-minute stroll from our front door.

OUR LOCATION

Blenheim Lodge is a quiet guest house, peacefully tucked away from busy traffic and crowds, on Brantfell Road in Bowness on Windermere. Up here, one can hear the proverbial pin drop: BUT, just 2-3 minutes’ walk downhill are the shops, restaurants, pubs, attractions and amenities of Bowness centre easily at hand. Lake Windermere and Bowness Pier are 5 minutes’ walk from our guest house.

For lovers of the Lakes and fells, Brant Fell is the fell into which our B&B snuggles, so there is quite literally a fell right on our doorstep. Indeed, some of our rooms have views of this Lakeland fell. The fell is a wonderful place for relaxation or exercise or, even, contemplation!

OUR HOUSE

Built in 1868, Blenheim Lodge has retained many of its Victorian features. THERE IS A HOMELY VIBE WHERE GUESTS CAN RELAX AND ENJOY THE AMAZING LAKE AND FELL VIEWS FROM OUR GUEST LOUNGE OR THEIR BEDROOMS. A tranquil atmosphere surrounds the house – SO conducive to a good night’s rest on the handmade pocket sprung mattresses in our en-suite bedrooms.

Blenheim Lodge is our family home; and, whilst our guests are staying with us, we hope that they will also feel as comfortable here as they would be in their own homes.

All our rooms are unique in style and reflect the quirky character of this venerable building: ranging from rooms with antique four-posters and Louis XV beds to those with more modern, yet classic, bedroom furniture. 10 ROOMS HAVE VIEWS OF LAKE WINDERMERE AND FELLS, OR ONE HAS A VIEW OF BRANTFELL AND THE DALES WAY.

BREAKFAST

We are proud of our local produce here and serve hand-cured and hand-cut bacon and handmade sausages made from a generations’ old recipe. Farm eggs, delivered to our door, are large and tasty with orange yolks. Vegetarian options are ALWAYS available.

FACILITIES

We have a PRIVATE ON-SITE CAR PARK. We also have two outside taps for cleaning muddy shoes or boots. And, since we also offer two FREE FISHING PERMITS on a first come first served basis, guests are more than welcome to clean any fish they have caught under the taps!

There is a guest lounge for guests to relax in before huge bay windows with BIG VIEWS of Lake and fells. We also offer FREE WIFI.

Finally, assistance is ALWAYS AT HAND with booking tours, meals, activities, etc. We will even try to arrange as best we can transfers for overseas travellers.
