Pretty footbridge and clear, clean, shallow river on grassy banks below gentle Cotswold escarpment. Does not deepen to more than 80cm. This is the sight of the first ever dinosaur find. Hunt for fossils and also examine the old Roman villa.
The land downstream of the bridge, and on the oppoiste bank of the river, is privately owned grazing land. The area to the west is common land / open access and this leads on up to the bathing area ‘Sandy Bay’.

We went there today and it was lovely but very shallow. But then we crossed the footbridge and headed across the far field, after about 7 or 8 minutes coming to much better and deeper swimming. There were lots of locals there – obviously a popular spot. Perhaps you need to amend this entry?

This is a lovely peaceful spot – however, when we went in July the water was low, too low to swim in, and river bed is very rocky and quite painful to walk on
