RT, Wiltshire says:

This spot has become more and more busy in recent years, and completely over-run whenever the sun shines. There are noisy cars speeding down the short dead-end lane leading to the river, and the road becomes completely clogged with cars. The small area beside the river is packed with noisy lads, barbecues, loud radios etc, and overwhelmed with rubbish and dog mess. The river is very dangerous, with complex currents when the water is high, and a gravely river bed. In fact there have been several serious accidents here over the years. AVOID!!

Have to say it was a lovely spot but so very crowded when the sun comes out. I don’t swim there any more as there are better places along the river that have less people and hence rubbish. Preferably well upstream as I was also told that there had been a recent issue with the treatment plan upstream.

JB says:

One of the best spots for a swim in the Wild Swimming book that we’ve tried. A couple of slight drawbacks – it can get a bit busy in the school hols and there’s not much space for an apres-dip sit-about
