Bolton Abbey

A popular stretch of river in front of the priory ruins. Upstream of stepping stones and bridge is deeper section where people sometimes use boats. Downstream are the shallows but underground rocks make swimming difficult and diving dangerous.

  1. My father brought us here as children and we swam, had picnics and walked through the ?valley of desolation? I think it was called, where I remember an abundance of bluebells… up to the Strid. Glorious days.
