  • IMG_0200 v2

A graceful column of water falls 10m into a deep, large plunge pool set in an amphitheatre in the woods. Swim beneath fall. Climb up behind fall and then dive back in.

Even without a car it’s a relatively easy series of falls to access. I jumped on a bus in Swansea, got off at Glynneath, walked up the road (maybe 25 minutes) to the Waterfalls Centre beside the pub. Good car parking beside pub and in the centre itself. The (rather attractive!) new toilet block at the start of the Waterfalls Walk should be open very soon by the looks of it.

Walk up to Lady Falls took about 30 minutes I would guess, very pretty! Like Naomi says, it’s COLD! Totally exhilarating! I was swimming alone too! You can easily walk behind the falls themselves. The plunge pool is deep and wide and accessible even when the surrounding rivers are in spate and are too dangerous to swim. The rocks and stones underwater are traversable with bare feet.

Relatively well hidden bits behind the rocks make a good place to change right beside the water and away from the footpath!

Well worth it, I’ve planned my return for two weeks time!

We visited these falls on the 5th may. The walk to the falls was beautiful and the water was clear and ice cold, not for the faint hearted. There are a lot of walkers, in this area, but it was a bank holiday weekend, no one else was swimming though!
It was such a beautiful swim, so refreshing , I will definitely be going back!
