An exciting and relatively safe piece of gorge swimming. A pool flows slowly through a deep, narrow channel, 5m wide for about 30m. There’s a large rocky outcrop by path to watch from, or jump in from. Dangerous when flooding.

The start of waterfall country!!!!! swim them all!!! and when you get to Lady falls carry on up, follow the river, dont stop till you cant go any further arriving at Einion Gam falls, 3/4mile, that is no longer on the local maps you’ll find in the area, as its now off the beaten track and requires you to cross the river a few times to get to, but absolutely well worth it. I think the locals are trying to keep it as their own but hey.
easy to get to from a465 – park near the Angel Inn and walk up the waterfall path. About 10/15min walk.
Was quite fast flowing when we visited- late Aug 2012 – lots of rain this summer!
This was our first wild swim ! Me ( 44 ahem! but strong swimmer ) and my boy (13) fair swimmer. We went in with just our shorts and barefoot.
enough space for a decent swim – although at times against the current – it was hard work. But very invigorating and strangely after 5mins felt a warm glow ! must be my 35% body fat ! My son was colder a lot quicker, but he really enjoyed it.
I swam around and dropped under the water – checking any hidden rocks before we jumped from the gorge wall !! about a 6/7 foot drop into the water, as said probably quite deep/swollen at the moment.
we really enjoyed ourselves and I’d recommend this place for stronger swimmers and older kids. Its really enthused to think about more wild swimming ! perhaps purchasing some wetsuits and some grippy beach shoes.
The rest of the trail and the waterfalls are great too, well worth a visit.
