  1. Hi, Hoping to take my kids swimming tomorrow near Barnard Castle. I’m a strong swimmer, but would still prefer the safest place possible. Recommendations?

  3. Hi! Just moved to Co Durham from Devon, where there was a hardy swimming group which swims in winter as well as well as summer. How about your group – how’s it going, anything happening? Would love to join you if there is!

  5. Is anyone interested in regular swims at Ellerton lake? I’ve just moved to the area and it would be great to find people to do some outdoor swimming with

  9. There are several places between sunderland bridge and also further up stream towards Wellington that are deep enough. Watch out for branches, old wire fencing etc. Especially. After floods. Footpath along N bank and part of S bank. Last time I walked along here the vegetation growth makes access difficult. Check for anglers before entering water, two local clubs have fishing on both banks.

  10. Does anyone have experience/comments about swimming near Durham? Just moved to Langley Moor 3 weeks ago, have swum at Low Force but seeking locations nearer to home – or any other good local-ish places!
