River Teme, Leintwardine

Nice quiet spot in the summer at the joining of the River Teme and River Clun for a swim or a paddle. The River Teme lazily winds it’s way towards the site through a lovely green meadow and is mainly warm, clear and shallow. The River Clun runs towards the site through a confluence and (I’m assuming) was used as the old mill stream.

For those who fancy a pint or food after, there’s the (posh nosh) Lion public house about 2 mins away. For those with a hankering for a little more interest, there’s the excellent ‘Sun’ public house about 10 mins walk away. It’s one of the only remaining traditional-format ‘parlour pubs’ left in the UK.

Access the field and site via the style at the southern end of the Teme bridge. You can normally park-up just north of the Teme Bridge aside the village green.

  2. I’d say the Sun is only 3-5 minutes walk away! Excellent spot, deep and cold.

  3. Spent a (rare) sunny afternoon here Aug 2012 with daughter happily zipping downstream on her inflatable ring. shallows for paddling, stony so footwear advisable. Current no danger to a competent swimmer but deepens quickly in places, particularly where the 2 rivers meet, up to about 6 feet. lovely spot.
