An idyllic stretch of river flowing through traditional water meadows. There’s the National Trust mill to visit, and tea rooms, and with several different streams and lots of space.

  1. Anyone know where to park a camper van?

  2. And also, if someone drowns in a river, it doesn’t follow that it’s entire length, in either direction is therefore dangerous, does it? I sent both my teenage boys here to swim with their friends without hesitation.

  3. Well I swam in here just about every week this summer, and it’s not at all dangerous, are we talking about the same place? I wouldn’t dream of getting in when the mill is running, which it vary very rarely is, but even if you did, you’d be pushed in the direction of the pebbles where the water is inches deep.

  4. Please think about retracting this recommendation. As well as the points other people have made here, a child drowned in a stretch of the river near here last week and it is dangerous. Thank you.

  5. This is NOT a safe place to swim, there are steep drop offs into deep water, undercurrents particularly when the mill is running and the EA sluice gates can open without warning
