The river Exe estuary, is not so fun to swim in, but the canal at Turf is just wonderful.
Your on an island between the picturess estuary & the crystal clear waters of Exeter Canal.
With a wonderful pub to boot. Not only that, but you can camp at the pub too, right out on the sliver of land between the estuary & the canal, you feel you are floating on water.
You could literally swim for miles in the canal or jump & dive into the canal basin.
It’s a little walk in, 1 mile from the canal carpark or 1.3 miles from St Clements Church, but that makes it all the better
