Chippenham River Festival is an annual celebration of the River Avon which flows right through the heart of Chippenham.
The Big Swim is a key feature and attracts wild swimmers from across the UK.
Swimmers will set off from Chippenham Sailing and Canoeing Club at 3.15pm and swim around 1,100 metres to a pontoon on Island Park, close to Town Bridge.
Another main event of the festival is the Raft Race which attracts a diverse mix of groups and organisations.
Other activities include canoeing, kayaking and rowing.
Although this is a river-based festival there are also loads of land-based attractions including raft-building workshops, tree-climbing, kids’ quad bikes, bungee, and various demonstrations, arts, crafts and other stalls.
Chippenham River Festival is on Saturday 25th August and Sunday 26th August 2012 from 12 noon to 5pm.
The Big Swim takes place at 3.15pm on Sunday 26th August 2012.
