Outdoor Swimming
Society

The
Outdoor Swimming Society was founded in 2007 by Kate Rew, author of Wild Swim
(published shortly after Wild Swimming
in 2008).
The
Outdoor Swimming Society (OSS) builds upon 'Breastrokes', a
charity swim that used to be organised in the Lake District.
These no longer run but the Great North Swim now offer an
exciting and challangeing opportunity for those looking to try longer
distance outdoor swimming with a society or with support.
The Outdoor Swimming Society (OSS) orgaises an annual Christmas dip
party with hot tub at the Parliament
Hill Lido in Hamsptead.
The
Outdoor Swimming Society also provides on advice on organising social
swims around the country and collects infromation on places to swim.
Together with about 100 other organisations, the Outdoor Swimming
Society recently provded evidence to the Welsh Assembly
Sustaiability Committee who are investigating river access in Wales.
The Outdoor Swimming Society follows in the footsteps of the River
and Lake Swimming Association, founded in 2003.
