I’m interested in swimming as many lakes as I can in the Lake District for as much of the Year as possible. Which lakes are best and if also swimming alone.

Just back from the Lakes and went here to swim on the recommendation of this site. It was fantastic. Stunning scenery and beautiful water. Highly recommended.

A nice location with handy parking (just over the road) and lovely views. The bottom is gravelly (not rocky as further down the lake), and is a nice location for an early morning splash!
Easy access from Wasdale Head and the YHA Youth Hostel.
